Yes, those green detectors are extremely unreliable. Comscore no longer supply them for that reason. I'm not yet sure of the replacement since I haven't serviced our other centre that has been replacing them since their problems started. Comscore now have a reliable replacement so I would order them from John (Comscore) because there are many available out there but few suited for our industry's use.

John is the man with the answers.
He helped me several times at my place.

Overnight ovaries hatch new ideas. Had put board in another pair, worked fine. (Then that tested pair board quit operating for 30 minutes when hooked back up. Came back to ops by itself.) Have the green detectors. Already set on max. Rechecked the detector w/handheld reflector, got LED on it to light up this time, very narrow recognition. Changed detector, up and operating. Now the whys pop up as to yesterdays readings and puzzlements. What better detectors are available & where from? Thank you for the ideas and help.

What color are the ball detectors?
Do they have an adjusting screw?
have you tried the faulty detectors on another functional pair of lanes?

Have you attempted to use you're phones camera to see if there's light output from the detector?

If the detectors are green in color they are of poor quality. They also came with an adjusting pot to vary the beam strength. I've also experienced unusual behavior with some reflectors; some working better with other detectors.

James has more experience with the DUO than I do so maybe he'll chime in here.

But in the meantime, my understanding of the DUO camera setup is fairly simple. You have power to one on the detectors so you have power from the LLAN. That get's distributed through the board which you said you changed out and the same results. Did you also put the old board in another lane just to confirm the old board is good?

When you say only one is powering up are you basing this on the red led on the backside of the detector itself? I know you checked some voltages but you weren't real specific at where you got the measurements from. Did you measure the voltages at the pins on the ball detector receptacle on the board where the detectors plug into the board? This should guide you to board or detector. If you have power at the pins then you should at least get the red light on the backside of the detector.

I know the DVS system had the ability to disable the ball detection. I'm not sure if the DUO has this option as well. If you get the red light on the back side of the detector it may be a settings issue.

Just throwing some things out there.

Narrowing down slightly...found plugging spare photo beam set direct to board and using reflector, only one is powering up, so for sure the wires are intact. Checked power coming onboard to the "LLAN in" plug, it matches voltages exactly with an operating pair using all combos of the 5 wired prongs. Okay, guess will have to sleep on it, again.

Earlier today, lane 2 ball detect beam went dead. No trigger or scoring. Trying to figure if board, swapped lane inputs, even still out. Put back to proper input, now odd doesn't engage reset solenoid when beam is broken and even beam still out. Next idea? Thank you.
