  • Rosco X-24 X-Effect Issues.

So in my center and in the attached retail store, we have 16 of these lights. All only around 2 years old, the problem is most have not worked in over a year. Upon inspection, i noticed the fuse was blow on around half, most had melted motor drive pulleys, and all have either charred or burnt up lamp ballasts. All ballasts are damaged in the exact same location, the same transformer. Of my 16, only three still have lamps that turn on, but due to the melted motor pulleys, the discs don't spin. I'm wondering if anyone else has these fixtures, and if you're having similar issues. Ive had problems with these fixtures before, at a different location, but nothing as "WTF?" as what I'm dealing with now.

What seems to be with your issue is that they are programed to stay to long, so they are over heating. The best success we have had is to be on no more than 15 seconds and off for at least 30 seconds, also if they have cooling fans make sure they are clean and working.

I would contact Rosco or your Rosco representative. Rosco makes top of the line products and have been around for a long time, a well known name in the theater industry. These fixtures were designed to operate in a 24/7 environment, so there should be no concerns with a "duty cycle".
If it can't be fixed with a hammer, try a bowling pin! They're heavier and more surface area for whacking!
