  • 82/90 XL BE Gearbox Disassembly

Trying to figure out how to remove the elevator driveshaft from an 82/90 XL BE gearbox.

I had to repair an odd lane unit that had blown it's wormshaft and worm gear by using shafts from an extra even box I had and wanted to remove all the shafts just to be sure I got all the brass bits out. But for the life of me I couldn't figure which way the elevator shaft came out. The seal is fine on this particular unit so I decided to leave it, but I know I have others on machines that do leak will need replacement.

The Franklin manual doesn't really say much about how the shaft comes out.

Does the large seal have to be popped out first like the expansion plug above it covering the wormshaft????
