  • 82-70 Westing House Gearbox

I can't remove the rotor shaft from a Westing House combo gearbox. I have the gearbox disassembled other than the rotor shaft. I have removed the 4 screws from the cap under the rotor. I've tried beating the housing with a rubber mallet while having the head of the shaft in a vice. And it just won't budge. Any advice before I bring this to a machine shop?

Undo the nut on the end of the worm shaft

When that happens to me I take a good punch and gently tap on the worm gear to get it to moved upward. Do not tap it so hard that you break the worm though. Did you try two pry bars under the fin flange?
