  • counter balance spring

I got an 82-70 table counter balance spring that just broke, actually second time in 9 years same side same machine. But my question is this: The broken spring measures 15 1/2" and the spare which looks fairly old measures 16 1/2". Does anyone know which is the correct length? Obviously I want to get a spring back on there but if the 16 1/2" is not the correct spring I need to order the correct spring in sooner than later.

My replacement from QA is 15 1/2" not counting the hooks.

      Re: counter balance spring

Tolerance on the spring length is 15 3/4 to 16 7/8

Billy your measurements would be retracted to extended correct? Or as long as the spring measures in between that on the bench I'm good. Even still with your dimension, my broken spring and Keeth's spring both measure 15 1/2" from QAMF, which would tell me that our springs are too tight, right?

          Re: counter balance spring

As long as there's enough tension to keep the spring from falling off, I don't seem to worry about it.

The tolerance is end to end of the actual spring (hooks are not factored in). 15 1/2" shouldn't be a problem
