View Full Version : hourly versus salary?
Hey, a question for the guys that are on a salary. Do you get paid for working someone elses shift or in my case, SHIFTS. I had a guy quit on me, and my other guy had to fly out of town for a few days leaving ME by myself for 3 days, 2 of which are not my regular days to work. Had this happen to you? or what are the laws covering this situation.

Your stuck with it from what I've read. When your on salary you have to take the bad with the good. Have you taken any days off or left work early while on salary and still been paid? I'm on salary myself, but my salary is $0.00 and I still cover when someone is gone, sick or whatever. I don't mean to get on your case or anything but that should have been mentioned when you took the salaried position. When things look great and everything is running great take a day off and consider it compensation for the extra days you worked. If you like your job and you think the pay is equal to your knowledge then I wouldn't worry about it.
Have Fun!

like drill said, it all works out in the end at least for me....summer time 20+hour weeks....still get 40 hr pay + perks & Vacation
...winter time your stuck...and if your bilingual (joke!) can work more than one job at once...you'll work desk/down back, bar/downback, snackbar/downback, bar/desk/downback & bracket guy, and you still get 40 hr pay plus perks...just matters how much you enjoy the job.....
just remember
1) bowlers are gonna bitch
2) employees are gonna be late
3) employees are gonna not show up
4) bowlers are gonna bitch
5) employees are gonna steal
6) Mon-Fri 9 to 5 is not an option
7) you're always the *******
8) bowlers are gonna bitch
if you can take that in stride youll be fine
been here 13 plus years. Have NEVER taken a sick day, NEVER missed a day of work and cut my vacation this year short by 2 days because one of my other guys ended up in the hospital while I was in Kentucky ( I live in Florida) Was told is would be "made up" to me and thanks for it, and thats the last I have heard. Just pisses me off that he can get away with me working an extra 25 plus hours in 3 days and not get something for it (like at least what the other guy would have been paid)(and am "on call" when he feels like calling me, which doesnt bother me that much)
I am just mad that the only one that is making out is the boss, doesnt have to pay the guy that is not here and doent have to pay me because I am on salary
