  • cwc and eprom compatibility

I have been having scoring issues across the house for a long time. I have adjusted cameras over and over again. Adjusted tower switches more times than i care to count. Spray painted every shiny piece of metal the camera could ever see a flat black color. I still have numerous issues. I am currently running 7500 cwcs with 2.42 eproms. I was told that the 7500 doesnt work well with the 242 eproms. Could this be causing the issues im having? If not what is the max i could adjust the tower switches out before they start shadowing the back row? Im pretty much looking for any help. These issues seem to crop up ALOT more during this womens tourney we have every year.

Sounds like timing when the triggeing starts the count when K-1 pulls in, then the machines TDM starts the rake and deck down at the same time? That makes sense if the cushion isn't being hit hard enough. You do have triggering? And it's hooked into the K-1 base?
You want the tower switch with the black/red wires to make as soon as the rake starts down. Then, have about an 1/8" gap before the switch with the white/green makes and drops out the K-1.
For the shotgun triggering it, and if you have A-2 pulleys, you might have to add a potentiometer to the TDM timing resistors to add a little time in 1st ball. (Assuming you have original TDMs). Reason is, the deck runs down fast enough to start shadowing the back row at take count time, so the camera can miscount. Or if the triggering trips the machine with A-2 pulleys, the rake may come down fast enough to do the same thing.

2.42? Are you sure it's not 4.24? If it is, thats a good version of the software and should work fine with any of the CWC's. Are your cameras grounded?
I've had enough of hope & chains.

I'm not very familiar with the ffg emproms and what vesrion is 'good'. deb would be the one to check with to find out. Does your center actually use the ffg?

Yes the cameras are grounded. Yes we use the ffg, i started a league with it and its 26 teams so i have to have the ffg. If i understand correctly the only other ffg is 5.32 right?

Send deb a P.M. She is the AMF software queen!

I have been to this good running center before and I am sure they have 5.32 EPROMs as they have the 8 player score grids. BTW Bobby, the new monitors are AWESOME!! I am less than an hour away, but I am not much help as my center has AMF machines. But I would help with other scoring issues.

AMF says model 7500 CWC needs EPROM version 4.18 or higher. All I know is that in the early 1992 time frame there was a hardware change - new device chip for front desk communications - that required a software (driver) change.

Sorry I can't offer more help than that at this time.

What's last last known 'good' version of the FFG, deb? Or is it already in the software like 5.32, or 4.24, you just need a FFG dongle to allow access to the FFG?

We have 8 lanes that i recently installed 5.32 in but the other 32 do infact have the 2.04 eproms. Even the lanes with the 2.04 has 8 player scoring grids. I agree the new monitors are awesome, such a upgrade from those dinosaurs we used to have. With the new monitors and the kegel im about 75% happy with the center, now if i could just get it to running better. It runs better than when i took over by far but its still a far cry from where i want it to be.

I don't know all the released versions of AccuScore, but 5.32 (SAS and SLB) was the last official release. FFG2.04 was an early version of Forty Frame Game.

I'm 99.9% sure of the accuracy of the following: The 8 bowler grid and FFG were implemented at the same time. All 8 bowler grid versions include FFG. All 6 bowler grid versions are pre-FFG.

There were problems with early FFG installations. Turned out there was a bug in the Advantage communications subsystem that was exposed by the FFG changes. Fixing that bug included changes to both Advantage and AccuScore. It's really best to run the same version EPROMs in all your CWCs.

I knew you would be able to put it in easily understood terms.

ALWAYS run the same version! Weird stuff happens when you don't - or not, that's the crazy part...

I'll wave in your direction when we are on the road Saturday - all I-64 from now on - screw the DC area... I dunno how you do it. All I want to do is get the flock outta Dodge & see the ocean.

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
