  • Power Supply goes bad after power surge

Power supply inside scoring computer goes bad after a power surge or if electricity goes out for a few hours then comes back on. They're all plugged into a battery backup device then that is plugged into orange colored outlet on the wall. Battery backup is saying that its good and on-line. These are 300w power supplies inside Vector +

    Thanks,
    Chip

One thing that drive power supplies going out is the age of the caps in it. Electrolitic caps have a life cycle of about 10 years, this inculdes sitting on a shelf waiting to be used. Most will run fine as long as they stay powered. But, when they go off line and cool off, chances are they won't come back.

The orange outlets are "Isolated Ground Outlets", they have two grounding systems, one for the conduit and box, the other is for the computer ONLY and is grounded separately from the rest of the building and machinery.
