  • No bumpers for scorer computer on Vector +

I have a scorer computer that won't let the desk see that bumpers are installed. Therefore..they cannot issue bumpers for those 8 lanes. I've checked the bumper pcb at start of the daisy chain and it seems fine. Replaced the power converter for COM2 under the scorer computer then rebooted and still got nothing. Tried refreshing status at desk computer..nothing! Please help

    Thanks,
    Chip

You might have to go into your C drive on Dator comp. and look in the brunswick folder, then under the utility folder you should find (config.exe) open that up and choose scorer computer and pick which slave it is. then double click each lane # in there and see if it is set to brunswick or none assuming you have brunswick pinball wizard bumpers. After that you then click save and merge then reboot slave after you are done. If that isn't the case then you might have some bad bumper control boards in the daisy chain that might have went bad. That's where I would start first. Power supply, Hard drive, and network card would be the next things I would start looking at.

I'd do a loopdack test on the offending slave comm port. I was just in a center that had the comm port go out, rendering 8 lanes of bumpers useless. You can hook up a keyboard and monitor to the slave, start accessories, hyperterminal, select local echo, and type text into the window. If you have jumped terminals 2 and 3 together in the DB9 connector (can do with an alligator clip), you should see 2 characters for each one you type - that'll tell you the comm port is good.
You can also download a comm port tester, or run the tester in the slave accessories, but the above procedure is easier - IMO.

Glad you found it. You might consider trying to use a port test procedure and get comfortable with it. It can at least tell you which direction from the slave DB9 connector to look.
