Lightning strike now no scoring
We took a direct hit to the building last night and I now have no scoring. Frameworx lgp will boot up, led lights on i/o board but I am getting nothing to the pinsetter interface and I get no signal to the monitors up front. All 12 pair are not working so I cant swap any parts to test them. Did a system reboot up front with no help. What should I be looking for that is fried?Tags: None

Pinsetter I/O boards. A few years ago we lost 7 of 'em after a nasty electrical storm here. If you can access the diagnostics menu on a pair, there's a way to see if the interface board is being seen by the LGP. I don't have Frameworx anymore, but maybe someone that remembers how to do it can chime in. I seem to recall having to enter a 5 digit number that adds up to 16(?) to bring up a screen that shows version numbers and a bunch of other info, including what you may need to determine if the pinsetter interface (I/O) is communicating with the LGP.It is wiser to find out than suppose.--Mark Twain

I would do that but I have no working units at all. After several trips up and down the machines I can get 2 pair to turn the monitors on but nothing else. I cant input any names at the bowlers stations and the lanes will not turn on from the front counter. I am thinking we may have lost motherboards.

Curtain wall mount. Been on this all day and I believe I have multiple issues. All of the I/O boards appear to have one malfunction or another, the pinsetter interfaces have no led lights lit, a few bowlers keypads dont work and I think I have 3 bad motherboards. To top it all off the owner wants to be involved in the repairs.

There is no surge protector and I have 120 volts at each receptical that the lgps are plugged in to. I will be swapping video cables today, I have 1 pair working correctly and can use that as a test unit. I absolutely HATE electronics.

Scoring systems should all be isolated completely. Dedicated outlets, isolated ground back to main service ground. Also as everyone has been asking about a TVSS (trans Voltage Surge Suppressor) that controls the voltage to the dedicated scoring panelboard. Sounds like the lightning strike caused a big surge and took out most of your electronics. All you can do is get one lane up and running then swap out components one by one to see what has been fried and what is good. Then as Twincity said...install one before it happens again.Failed safety course.Question #1:In case of fire what steps do you take? Apparently 'Friggin long ones!" is the wrong answer.

After dealing with this for nearly a week now here is what I have found. All I/O boards, 3 video boards, at least 4 llan cards, 1 transformer in the lgp that feeds the pinsetter interface, 14 keypads and 10 Evolution converters, all bad. Half of the house will not turn on from the front desk, 4 pair will not turn on from the keypads but will from the front desk and 2 pair that work perfectly. I need a drink.

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
