  • MATRIX Cameras

Hi, does anyone have model numbers for cameras known to be compatible with MATRIX? The ones in most of our pairs are model CPT-8250, but I can't find any of those online.

Using the specs you could ask a camera supplier to help you out if you can't find any.

What happened to the camera? I've had pretty good life out of ours, even had a couple hit and still good. Never had one be the cause of any issues, only needed re-terminated a couple BNC connections.

The one I'm currently looking at swapping, the image seems to be very slowly moving. The picture looks fine/clear, but I'll configure and 10 minutes later it's incorrect again. I made sure everything is tight and the camera can't move around, but it's still happening.

I have a few others laying around that have been changed over the years as well. The most recent one it had like a slow wave going top to bottom distorting the image. The camera I swapped in didn't have the same issue so I don't think it was the cable. I did try wiggling the cable before changing the camera.

Another one we changed a while ago would turn off and back on by itself.

Did you put the camera in question ln a different pair of lanes to ensure the problem followed the camera? Also check the lens to make sure it is screwed in all the way. These can come loose and cause vibration issues.

If you do end up changing the camera, they are standard cameras. However, there are a few key points you need to look for. There are basically 2 primary video standards used world wide. The PAL and the NTSC. The PAL is generally used overseas while in the US we primarily use the NTSC. These standards are for color cameras. Each of these has a subset of standards for black and white cameras. PAL has CCIR while NTSC uses EIA for black and white cameras. In the matrix manual, it specifies the use of EIA as shown below.

You can see this in James' spec sheet circled in red.

If you buy a camera in the states for CCTV, it should come with EIA standards but double check. Many come with both standards and you can switch between them. Additionally, you want to pay attention to the voltage. The chassis supplies 12 VDC for the camera. You can use some other voltage but you will need to provide a separate power if it's not 12 VDC,.

Also, make sure the lens can accept the lens from your old camera. This will help maintain the focal length.

Have you called Jon to get a price for a replacement camera?

I haven't tried it on a different pair yet. I don't like to play around with the pairs that are working during league season.

Thanks for the tip on using the original lenses! I hadn't even thought of that. We do have a few of a different brand of camera from I don't know where, but I haven't ever been able to get them to focus as well as the original. Hopefully using the original lens will fix that.
