Extremely Frustrated Scoring Problems
Hello all. We've got lanes 37+38, and originally 37 wouldnt score a strike. Machine would cycle, just no score, and only on strikes. It would score most but not all strikes. We rebooted the 3QT, sent a new upload form the front desk, and switched the flash drive in the 3QT to the other slot. WOrked fine when we tested it, and of course once leagues started it stopped scoring once in a while again. Yesterday we changed the camera and circuit board, adjusted the camera, rebooted and sent a fresh upload again. Worked fine through juniors this morning, tournament this afternoon, and 3 frames of leagues tonight. Then it stopped scoring altogether. Had to turn it off and let them keep score by hand.
Ive ripped just about every hair out, and I'm gettin tired of grabbing at air. Any suggestions?Tags: None

The flash drive on the 3QT is for themes and cannot be put in any other slot, if it is in the wrong slot the themes won't work and when it boots up it will tell you its plugged into the wrong port, whether or not this caused it to not score I don't know but it should be back in the slot it was before. Power it down, move it over, then power it up.... do not do this with the power on.
As for the scoring problem.... have you checked the camera dots and ball detector alignment?

Yea I just moved the flash drive back over. It didn't cause any problems or shoot an error, but it didnt solve our scoring issue so I moved it back.
When it stopped scoring during league, I checked the camera dots, all were right in the center of the head of the pins. We checked the ball detector the first time, might have moved one lens a little, but they were pretty much spot on. And I believe if those were out of adjustment, the machine wouldn't cycle. We get cycling just no scoring.
I checked all of our read times and delays, same as every other lane, and I dont see a problem arising from those because they're never changed. I double and triple checked our ball light switch and adjustment, it all seems good. Tightened all wires going between F-Box, machine, and camera.
If we cant figure it out we might end up switching our 3QT boxes and see if the problem follows. But I would like to avoid that process if at all possible.

Ok sounds like you have checked the usual things. One easy thing to try is go into setup>technical setup>pinsetter and camera for that pair and uncheck the 2nd lamp box, then send it and reboot the 3QT. If it then works fine after you do this then that means the scoring is getting a 2nd ball signal all the time as it will not score the first ball of a frame if it is getting the 2nd ball signal from the machine.
With Qubica, if the machine is on 1st ball it will always score whether or not the machine is on ball 1 or 2, but, if the machine is on ball 2 and the frame is empty it will ignore the score.
If the machine cycles at the correct time and SHOWS BALL SPEED, that indicates both ball detectors are working properly and it should also therefore post a score. When you checked the ball detectors did you also check all of the wire connections at the camera board, tugging on them gently to make sure they are secure in the connector blocks?

Tablejam is right the second lamp might be causing you the issue, uncheck that box. if the problem goes away that might be your issue. We have old mod iv masks, second lamp is burnt out the lane will not score at all. It causes a short and the scoring thinks the lanes is on second ball at all times. If the machine is not on first ball when you through the first ball it will not score.

Try swapping components around instead of changing them. Swap the 3QT with a pair, the camera board with another pair and even the F/6 Box with yet another pair. This way if it crops up again, you can determine the culprit.TSM & TSM Training Development

Thank you for the suggestions guys. I disabled the second ball lamp, uploaded and bowled 6 games with no problems. Except the very last ball didn't score. It also didn't show ball speed. So I adjusted the reflectors again, and it worked fine again. Going to put leagues on it tonight and cross my fingers. If it stops again, ill try some other ideas. Either way I'll let you know and again I appreciate the help

Ahh no ball speed. When the ball speed goes away it either means the speed limit is set too low or there is a ball detector issue which will cause scoring issues. When you align the detectors does the detector indicator only light on each one when the beam is broken?

You could swap the ball detects with 38 and see if the issue moves to 38.TSM & TSM Training Development

Well we had a 4-man league bowl on the pair last night. I didnt hear of any problems, and the only correction I saw on screen was a score changed to a gutter for 2nd ball, assuming a ball popped out and took out a 10 pin. So the problem seems to have been resolved. If anything pops up were going to piece meal everything across a few lanes and see where our problem travels too. But Ive got my fingers crossed.
Thanks again for the help guys

Interesting problem and if it comes back, I think we would all love to know what the culprit is. Let us know what you find.TSM & TSM Training Development
