  • Duster Motor By-Pass????

Is it possible to by pass the duster assembly? The take up roll motor does not engage, yet I can turn the take up roll collar by hand like its not even attached.

The motor also won't work even if I loosen the set screw in the collar (holding it on the shaft). It's like there's no torque. And of course, we don't have a spare motor.

With a bit of patience you can slowly open the motor. I had the same problem and it turned out that I could free the rotor again. Once when you hve the motor loose from the gearbox, you can test the motor. My problem was not the motor but the gearbox. Opened that also and could manage to get that workign with a bit of grease.

Now that I'm home, I can show you what happened. This video is me turning the take-up roll by hand:

Thank you Pinchezr. It took a bit to get the collar off the Motor Shaft, but pretty neat to see the inside of the Motor. Like you, the Motor worked ok when i tested it, but the large gear's teeth were sheared on the small side.

We cheated the Duster by removing the take-up roll, zip-tying the foam roll to the feed roll (floating it between the up/down switches), and taping down the Duster Down Switch. The machine stops as it comes out from the Masking Unit (when it should get the Duster Up signal), but hit OK to by-pass that.

Sorry, but the link is not working.....
It looks exactly the same as my broken gear!
Good that you fount the problem. I tried to find the gear locally but didn't find it. There was no other way of ordering a new gearbox.
If I remember correctly, it was not possible to order the the gear box only.
