Communication Error
My C mech yesterday left me a note stating that the machine keeps giving him the error message: A communication error has occured. Tried shutting down and rebooting. Checked all connections inside controller box and they check out visually. The error occurs after you hit ok to begin running your lane. I have a feeling it may be the main controller board but just putting it out there for some opinions because the error message is so general. Any ideas are welcome. Of course it happens on the Sunday before memorial day. I have an A-22 V 2.0.
Thanks!Tags: None

One thing to check would be to disconnect the cables to the upper motor control board of the machine, disconnect power, then you will have to remove the two corner screws at the top right corner of the electrical enclosure. (Looking from the Handle Side of the machine) swing the top board and tray up out of the way, make sure the gray cable that comes from J2 at the top board stays connected to the lower board and then apply power back to the machine and look at the upper left hand corner area of the lower board and see if D 9 Led is lit or flashing, if it is not then the problem is more than likely in the lower board.
If the light is lit or flashing check the connector at the electrical enclosure that is labeled User Interface. Make sure all the wires are connected to the terminals and are not lose.
The 3 middle wires within the connector are the transmit and receive information wires coming and going from the board to the GUI.
If that does not help call us here in tech support, we will answer 24/ 7 for any lane machine down problems.

4:1 Timing off..
*sigh* Hello friends..
I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Turret clutch rebuild
At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
