Yes, but they can suffer from failures as well if the switch plate and motor are allowed to loosen and shift. You also can't buy these gears on their own.

This picture shows the roll pin sheering and breaking its retaining sleeve. A pieces of the pin then wiggles out and grinds away the mating idler gear.

If caught soon enough and there's still enough of the teeth left you can replace the roll pin (I machine a grade 5 pin) and sleeve.

Please advise, My understanding is the helix gear [ the one shown that is worn ] is a aluminum allow gear. Is that correct? ? I thought there was a post of someone stating the aluminum gears also strip out. Thanks

In twelve years of running motors that have the metal gears, I've had one failure. If you have Vector, you can pull an error report that will give bumper errors, like emergency switch activated. I'd pull error reports frequently and check out those motors, plate tightness and switch adjustments. It was a good way of staying on top of any trouble that was on its way to a catastrophic failure. I don't know if Sync has this error report feature. If you have a scoring system that doesn't give error reports, keep an eye out for bumper issues, such as bumpers that are up after a lane is finished and the scorer is off, or any comments from bowlers about a bumper issue and look into those. This is how I have to do it with Bes-X since there isn't a report available.

If the bumper rails at the foul line haven't been converted to the short uprights, do that. The tall uprights that they were originally designed with allow balls to be driven into the end of the rail and break gears.
