  • Kustodian Plus Motor Speed Issue

    Good afternoon.

We have a Kustodian Plus that we use as our back-up lane machine. I usually run it once a week to make sure its in good running condition. The last few times I ran it, I noticed a speed issue with the machine. The machine would slow down, then go back to normal speed, then sometimes slow to a crawl. Not every lane, but every few lanes it would do this. I checked all speed pots and each pot is adjusted perfectly. Could the board still be bad or is this a drive motor issue? Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

It might be the speed control board. Have you tried cleaning out the drive motor? (Carbon build up) Also check the set screws for the drive wheels, I have seen them get loose.

OK I will clean out the motor and see what that does. I didn't even consider it could be the drive wheel set screws but I will check those as well. Thanks billman

The drive motors have Carbon brushes. Compressed air works well for cleaning the dust out. The brushes might be in need of replacement also.
Let us know what you find! lol

Took the brushes out and they're in good shape. Barely anything came out of the motor when i blew it out with air. Seems clean to me!. Checked the drive wheel set screws and they're secure.
