Has anyone had this problem before?

On our Kustodian ION (model B) when you press the start button on the handle the first time the machine is suppose to lower the duster and the squeegee...The second press of the button activates the oil and stripper heads and the machine travels forward.

Anyways, what has started to happen on our machine is when you press the start button the first time the oil/stripper heads immediately start moving (the machine does not travel down the lane). By pressing the start button another three or four times, the program is interrupted and the oil/stripper head stop moving. Now, by pressing the start button yet again, the machine starts to run normally.

This does not happen every time, it usually happens the first few lanes and then stops and all works well.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome, and thank you in advance for the help.

Is the squeegee and duster down when it does this?

Sounds like the handle button is double clicking, then travel error because it's not on the lane. One more push is restarting the program now that the machine is on the lane. (change handle sw.)
