  • Prodigy vs Defense-s vs SynPro

We used Syn-Pro 40 conditioner until we installed new Prolane and we were using a K+. We used Brunswick Logic with the Prolane, sstill using the K+. We had good scores with both. Problem is, we purchased new Kegel Walkers and in order to extend the warranty, we are required to use a Kegel Brand conditioner.

We tried Infinity, too slick, too much carry down. We tried Navigate, seemed to burn up quick and carry down.

    Our next step:
We ordered Prodigy and Defense-S. We will try 1 at one center and the other at the other center. From what I have heard, Defense-S is hard to get off lane the same as Syn-Pro 40 but it has the same characteristics as Syn-Pro which we had good luck with. The biggest problem with SynPro was the smell... the whole building had a chemical smell, when I got home, my wife could tell which center I was at.

We have struggled since the installation of the Walkers, now we are down to 2 kegel oils. Seems what works in the Midwest and east doesn't necessarily work in the west. I know King suggests Prodigy, there are a few centers using it in our area... they haven't had alot of luck but then most of those centers still have pad machines. Rumor is one center with the pad machine is using Prodigy in the middle and Infinity on the outsides on HPL.

I haven't seen anyone mention Offense HF

    Any thoughts?
Guess what?! I got a fever, and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

My guess is the issue is in your pattern....what is you current pattern and what makes the lanes hard to X....no hold?...no backend?...outside slick?

You thought Infinity was slick? Wait till you use the Defense/S. the chemical characteristics don't equate to how well an oil holds up or plays. On Prolane you're going to do best with Navigate or Prodigy.

          Or Connect.

I prefer Logic over Connect. But he needs to stay with Kegel for his warranty. Otherwise I would have suggested Logic, since he already had success with it.

I have been using infinity for quite a few years now on my pro lane with great results...

Maybe infinity is better on pro lane after a few years of use

Had the same problem with SYN PRO a few years ago. Would run the lanes and the whole place smelled like kerosene . Called Lane Concepts, they knew of the problem but could not give an exact answer as to why. They did tell me it was limited to a certain batch, and replaced the bad batch that I had.

Same here, I tried it the summer we got SPL and could'nt stand it. (head ache all day) They said it was a bad batch, but after things changed it didn't play the same. (other centers not me, I didn't go with it) they all changed in my area

I have some Prodigy and Defense we are going to try.... this should prove to be interesting. We are also going to run what we are calling a Kegel Pattern league with the Prodigy, we are going to run all of the Recreation patterns over the course of the summer with Prodigy and that should give us a starting point.

We're finding that Infinity is too slick and is carrying down way too quick. We used Navigate but the healing properties were just not good enough for 2 squads. Now we're finding that Infinity is too slick. We're going to try Prodigy this summer and see how that works.

Getting an oil to hold up for 2 squads these days, is damn near impossible.

Alex I agree, I demoed Ifinity/SynPro/Utopia/my reg.offence hv.(at the time) Infinity pushed down ALOT and did'nt loosen up. I said it would hold up great because you could'nt hook it for 2+ games.

Defense / S at one center and Prodigy at the other. Not enough of the better bowlers right now to see what is happening. I did notice Prodigy seemed to carry down less at the end of the pattern, but about 1' from the head pin we are seeing sort of a spotty carry down (Kind of arrowhead or teardrop shaped). Don't know yet if the carry down is affecting the backends. Right now we are trying King's Walker pattern (20ml version), seems to play well. This weekend we have a tournament... we'll report back.

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
