  • Phoenix C 8 pad machine problems

I have a Phoenix "C" DBA machine that was never cared for. I have cleaned it up, but I have a few problems with it. First, it will randomly go off the end of the lane. If I set the forward travel lower, it won't reach the end of the lane. And I am the only mechanic here, so I know that the start point is always the same. Second, it drips what seems to be cleaner down the lane. Third, when it gets back to the approach, it will sometimes leave a puddle of oil on the right side of the lane, about 4 inches from the foul line. Any help would be appreciated.

The drip is probably from the nozzle tips. Have you cleaned them and properly adjusted them? You may need new filters for them. Let me see if I can find the videos on the machine. I used to have them book marked on line, but I got a new computer. I know the videos will help you adjust everything you need to adjust and give you a visual idea of what to look for.

The puddle may be oil and cleaner mixture as your squeegie and vac system is not working properly, or you using too much cleaner and it's not getting sucked up and obviously pushed off the pin deck.

There should be a fail safe system so to machine doesn't go off the pin deck if the distance tracker is not working. You may have some switches or relays that need to be replaced. Somebody else here should be able to help you there as that is not something I am overly good with.

scroll down to Lane Machine Phoenix C videos. This will help you. Do you have the instruction manual for the machine as well? I may have a link for that on line too.

You may also have to adjust your squeegie if it's leaving cleaner or oil mixes. Do a test strip and see how it strips the whole line. It should be very clean with no residue.

Thanks KWAGNER. I'll look up the video, andyes, I do have the manual, although it really doesn't give you info on nozzle adjustments other than how to set the spray direction. Thanks for the info.
