  • Lane to Lane caster upgrades ??

I saw on Kegel website they now have a 3" and 6" caster upgrade for lane to lane. Is anyone currently using this setup? I HATE the 2" casters always falling apart :-(

I installed the upgrade about a month ago. Great upgrade. I too hated the smaller casters always falling apart. Didn't want to buy them again only to see them fall apart in less than a year. These are great...though the machine does "steer" a little different. Like driving a car with rear wheel steering...LOL. you get used to it pretty quick though.

I just launched our new Walker yesterday. I was really impressed at how smoothly the larger wheels moved, at least in the transport position. I can't really judge how easily the wheels "steer" lane to lane, but I bet it's a lot easier than the smaller casters I had on my Kustodian plus a few years ago, and on the Summit-S I just upgraded from.

6" wheels rear, standard casters front, on my new ION Sport... it steers like a dumptruck lane to lane (my 'kick-turn' doesn't work any more), but I'm getting use to it. I don't see them falling apart any time soon, looks like a rugged wheel.

I still have the 2" casters installed and have been looking into something different ASAP! Do you have the 6" casters at rear and new 3" casters at front that look like the transport casters?

Skateboard wheels are still the best. Mine have been on for 4 years now and they are trick. Machine can be moved with a finger.

OK, i give up. I went to Kegels site and couldn't find anything about a caster upgrade. I went to Bobs Business's site and couldn't find anything. Does anyone have the order number. I recently put on a pair of 6" wheels from Grainger. I just drilled a hole near the front of machine. It came off the lane very easily but, because it went on the lane earlier so to speak, the paper and squegees were touching the approach. And steering sucked. I loved the skate board wheels but kept having to change the bearings.

I have a Phoenix S model C so I guess that doesn't apply to me. Thanks for the info though.

Im thinking maybe do the 3" casters for all 4 corners instead so I can still move the machine from lane to lane as I do now

the 3" casters in the front will cause your machine to slam into the lane. Listen to JBing, no point trying to reinvent the wheel.

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
