  • Walker Stopping

I have a problem with my Kegel Walker, when i run it from left to right it stops on the approach with the A7 fault which is approach travel error. It does this every 1/2 lanes for the first 12 lanes then runs fine. If i run it right to left it will do the whole centre without stopping once. Naturally I have done all the checks that are in the manual so i was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

Does the machine travel in a straight line on the approach when you set it to walk across long distance?

I have had some of the drive gears set screws loosen up and cause issues with approach travel. Although it didn't cause your issue it could be something to look at.

Hey mate, try emailing Terry Owens at Kegel, I'm pretty sure he could help you out, as he did for me when I had walker issues...

Keeth no it doesn't. We had the kegel guy from the states fix that problem last time he was out but it has returned. Kanga I've checked that as that was part of the problem we had with it going straight previously. Pin_Head i probably will call Terry, was just hoping the guys on here might be able to help.

If your machine walks really crooked, in your manual is a section about balancing your left and right drive wheels and trimming the yellow wire to achieve this and it is really not to hard at all Your walker may have learned the center from left to right unbalanced and has taught itself how to navagate while "limping" but it will really show its weakness when going the unfamiliar route as the distances are not as expected,so it will run into some foulcaps.

Hey I'll be honest with you I had SO much trouble trying to get my walker to walk straight, even with new drive motor bushings, no matter which motor i had the control yellow wire on and no matter what length wire I used still walked more to one side, even last year when Terry was out here with Graeme Rose from Cybernetics, Terry moved the wire around, different lengths one either motor, with no improvement, SO what I did when doing lanes 1-26 I "over compensate", because it walks to the right more , on the clockwise turn I turn less than 90* then by the time it travels to the next lane it has pretty much squared up, and also when turning counter clockwise I turn past 90* so when it hits the lane it is square to the lane, you know what, it's not ideal but it works, even Terry said if it is going to be happy that way best to leave it ..... this way it does 1-26 and 26-1  with no stops or dramas.....

Yeah P_H same thing, mine drives to hard to the right and when they were out last year they did all that. I may have to try what you did, sounds like it may make life easier. Changing wires only seems to be effective for a short while then the problem returns so i will definately give your idea some consideration. Still i dunno if that's gonna help with my A7 fault

I was warned from the very beginning by Gus not to bother trying to get her to walk perfectly straight. He said there was too many variables involved (mechanically/electrically) to allow both sets of drive wheels to be in perfect sync.
