So I bought a bowling center that had sat closed for 13 years...I have no idea how to use the oil machines...our mechanic that came in to get everything in the back end working again, said there was a good deal on a machine from another center that was closeing...so we went and bought it, said between the two we could get one working...So I have 2 Century 100's and a Century 300...Anyone have any insite to these machines...like a manual or anything...I was told they wont work on my lanes because the wheels dont sit in the gutters...I have wood lanes with above ground ball returns...

    Thanks,
    Cameron

The 100 will fit under the linear ball rack, the newer machines won't. These machines aren't supposed to have wheels in the gutters, they have guide wheels like any other machine that hug the edge of the lane. If the gutters are being sanded adding width to the lane, the wheels cah be spread out a bit.
If you have leagues, you will probably have to spray a little extra conditioner on the heads befor eyou run the machine as they won't out out enough conditioner for todays oil soaking balls.

So they are actually supposed to hug the lanes? My gutters kind of run right up to the edge of the lane...there is not a whole lot there for them to grab...

Your C-100 will work just fine on timber lanes with Timber gutters etc and yes even with above lane ball returns. the white nylon guide rollers on either side under the machine just pretty much prevent the machine from walking itself off the lane while going up and down..., if you can get it working right, fantastic little machine the old C-100, first lane machine I ever used was one of those, a really old one, then I used an ultralite... (smaller version of it)
AS REQUESTED....The all new and VERY improved "super cool" Pin_Head with super hip shades.....

You can set up a router and straight edge to trim off the top of the gutter. Since the head area is frequently wider that the pine, adding gutter top width makes the Century roller adjustment a bit too wide. You need only take 3/16" off the top of the gutter next to the lane to make a difference.
