  • phoenix 8 pad machine problems

i have a phoenix that keeps reading "error duster cloth empty" when i start it at the foul line. counter has been reset and i changed all 4 of the up/ down switches. usually i reset the menu once or twice and it goes away. now the machine runs down the lane, stops before the pin deck and then comes back and does not stop at the foul line. tried switching the cloth up/ down motors as i know the up burns out sometimes and it still having the problem. is the travel problem related to the cloth issue? any suggestions?

The down switches are "on" if the machine is reversing early, the plc does not look for those switches to be on until it gets to the deck. This could also be the cause of it not stopping at the foul line.
Input 5 should be your failsaife switches, go into the input menu and scroll up to 5 and see if the input is on (with machine on the lane), if it is then try disconnecting the wires at input 5 on the plc terminal strip and see if the machine runs fine.
Then you can hook up one wire at a time to see which switch is triggering the fail safe.

bill, failsafe 5 input was on. took off one white with orange stripe off #5 on the left plc terminal and failsafe went off and machine runs fine.
