  • IKON Question

I have a simple question that my bowling alley has been wondering. When we change/ reset the cloth, it defaults to 400 lanes. My question, is how that affects the machine. Does lower lane count change the compression of the roller because it assumes you should emptier? The issue came up because someone changed a cloth and set it to 10 lanes rather than it's reset 400 lanes. A tech came in and stated it was bad for the machine. Any light shed on this functionality of lane cpunt , cloth, etc. would be great..I dont know the exact model, but it'd an IKON. With. Bird on the cover.

Changing the duster count should only affect the unwind time (cloth usage). When it receives a duster up switch closure it has another setting that tensions the cloth which shouldn't be affected by the duster count.

?????I could be wrong but billman should be able to clarify.

You are correct James. Typically, with a reset unwind time of 10... you will get about 380ish lanes.
Failure to reset the unwind time when the cloth is changed will result in too much cloth being unwound from the new supply roll.
If the cloth unwind time is accidentally reset and the cloth was not replaced, the supply roll will not unwind enough to allow the cushion roller to contact the lane properly.

Thank you guys for the input. I believe the settings with a new cloth were set to
        default unwind time 10
        Present in unwind time 10
        #of lanes 10

They changed the # of lanes because they thought It needed to match the rest and they were worried this was harmful
