  • Backends

King, have a puzzle that you might be able to solve. Reduced CX4S concentration to 1.5 caps per 2.5 gallons water and backends became stronger than when we were using 3 caps per 2.5 gallons water. Can you explain why this may have happened. Mixed by same individual as always.

In my opinion, the residue from some cleaners can leave a film that actually makes the backends soft (especially after a period of time elapses). We normally think of cleaner residue as being responsible for more hook on the backs, and I think that is true in some cases, but, I think that the opposite can be true. It's just another variable that we have to deal with!

I am with Mastermike on this - wait a couple days

Also your cleaner mix is best tested on your busiest day - on days you are not busy most mixes clean well

I do not think that 1.5 cups is sufficient

3 cups to 2.5 gallons is the least I would use

Here's more food for thought. Are you running any sport or "tournament " patterns on certain days for leagues or for practice such as the USBC National that have higher oil volumes than what is normally put out for leagues? Cleaning ratios are normally set for the pattern that is run the most often and may not clean as effective as for these patterns and as King says on high traffic days.
