  • Need a new pattern

Ok so the new owner wants a new pattern to please the bowlers. I don't really have any experience in making one or even where to start. I was hoping a King could help a little bit We have synthetic heads and wood backends. Phoenix-S lane machine. Using Connect lane conditioner and defense c cleaner. I looked through a bunch of threads and at some the patterns King has posted and not sure what would be a good fit. Last year there was only one 300 and one 800. Highest average was a 214. Which seems a little low to me. Especially compared to the other houses around here. Plus I know we have lost bowlers because of it. Thank you!

Thank you very much! I watch one of our regulars take a picture of his game and set. In the group the majority scored above their average too. Always a good sign I think. I saw some bowlers that play the outside having trouble keeping it on the right side of the 1 pin though. It seems to start to hook earlier than it should. A couple really struggled. I couldn't feel any oil about 35 feet down the lane. Shouldn't the brush buff the "2-2 2 18" all the way to 40 feet? I was thinking another load on the 2-2 would help the ball slide a bid further and get down the lane.

This still mystifies me a bit. Seeing the numbers and trying to imagine how the ball will react. Whats good and whats bad.

Before changing it run it for at least a week - lanes hook much more in the summer time for many reasons - less lineage - heat is friction etc

We have pretty wicked back ends all year long here though. We will see how it goes for a week before messing with it. Thanks

Johnny - you profile does not list your lane surface - if it is wood or AMF HPL you should change the distance to 42' - but leave the rest of the pattern alone.

Please fill out your profile information - it helps us all!

Ok the best I could find out was the wood backends are original, installed in '78 and the front is synthetic 9 or 10 years old. I tried changing my profile when I changed jobs but it just kept reverting back to my old settings. I tried na and that stuck. I figured it would be better to have na than the wrong info. I'll try changing it again.

                      King,

I got a centre 10 lanes wood, water base coat finish, last sanded June 9 2009 with synthetic pindecks. It has a Kustodian transfer brush not a plus. Here is what is programmed into it for house shot now. Can only use 40 mic stream. Lanes seem to be "tight" like a pocket hit get a standing 10 pin for a right hander. Yes the pins are "ON SPOT" Here's what I have. Also, had a regulation to have the machine not have any oil 12" from the foul line. Had to set that up to start the brush at 1 foot from the foul line. Here's what I have in the program it's set to 40 feet but really its 41 feet.

                      40 mic stream
                      20.24 (by calculation)

                      2-2 4 14
                      8-8 1 18
                      9-9 2 18
                      10-10 3 18
                      11-11 2 18
                      13-13 0 22 26-40'

                      2-2 0 1 22 40-28'
                      11-11 1 18
                      10-10 1 18
                      9-9 2 18
                      8-8 3 18
                      8-8 1 18
                      8-8 0 18 10-0'

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The bowlers I have right now are not the good 200 bowler's, have some crankers and some semi.

                      Thanks,
                      Thanks,
                      Rick

                              Sir King,

sorry once again I said that I have a transfer brush its not its has the transfer "pad" original equipment (Kustodian). Will change to the brush upgrade later on. I've had this shot since Aug. I've bowled on it during league and in between the 5 and 10 board it really hooks. Also, as the game goes on I'm more standing left and throwing right to keep it in the 1-3 pocket. Could you give me a different pattern or tweak this one. It just seems way to dry on the outside, I haven't tried outside 5 though afraid of the ditch ball.
