We are looking to replace our gold crown ball returns at the approach which are the long type and replacing the with
used Brunswick 2000.We will need to cut out a new section farther toward the back of the approaches.Does anyone
here have any ideas how this is done?

Brunswick has a transition track that can be added to the existing underlane to provide a path for the ball to the new location. It HAS to be aligned straight so the ball doesn't wobble and try to leave the track. The approach fill - or synthetic material will have to be custom trimmed to look nice.

I reread the original post. You have linear ball return trays? (balls all in a single line). Then the underlane track will have to be extended several feet, not just with the transition track I mentioned. You probably have the all metal "A" tubing track, which you can have pcs made, or use about any other manufacturers track, as long as it's lined up and there is a 1/16" drop onto the next piece.
The approach fill needs a little more attention as well since you have a longer move.
For Brunswick trays, set the bottom side of the lift base 14 3/4" from the lane surface. Check the height on all 4 corners.
