  • resurfacing for ted

ted talked to to earlier about resurfacing just the pines as i have syn heads and decks what is the best way to sand the end toward head pin and also the pine after the second panel for the deck end i put 2by6 flush with the end of the lane ao i can run the g off the lane on to the2by6 so not to round the edge forthefront i removed the panel and try to reverse off the pine to where the panel was also adding a piece off plywood 1/2 inch thick seems ok but would u suggest a better option thanks foryour expertise in advance jacko

I used to lower the pin deck front by the thickness of 1/8" masonite - perhaps a credit card thickness lower - so I could leave a piece of masonite laying on the pin deck and let the G rollers run onto the masonite.
The masonite should be a foot wide, and I'd change them after several lanes (or use the other end), as the sandpaper on the G got to sanding the masonite down and I felt I was taking too much lane. It would be up to 10 lanes before I'd have change it or turn it around.

It's a trick at the end of the synthetic head if you do not take it out and turn it over. You could get by one sanding without doing this, and you'd have to start feathering out the sanding spread out over a few feet so the change wouldn't be noticed from the head to the pine level when you are done. So the G would start 16" past the head, the next machine, 6", and the rotarys close to the head. But again, you could only do this once, else you'd be getting too much of a drop off past the head.
