Captain edition of ABC Tourn;("The first synthetic pin approved by ABC was the magnesium-based Magna-Pin in 1962. That pin featured a magnesium shell filled with foam and coated with a elastomer plastic. While the Co. went out of buisness because the pins were financially impractical to produce at the time, durability was never an issue. There are still a few Magna-Pins in use today-38years later.") This is a new one for me!!! Thought everyone might enjoy...... CAN YOU POSSIBLY BELIEVE THAT? felix

I too saw that article and was very intrigued. A Magna Pin would be a great addition to my collection!
Does anybody here use Magna Pins? Would you like to sell one?
Noticed 3 stripes on the neck of Magna Pins in the picture accompanying the article. Anybody know why that would be?
Yes, Felix, it is possible to believe that!

How about AMF's magnesium pin? Anyone ever see that one? I can't remember for sure what label was on it (meatball or triangle), think it was meatball. Coated with plastic with black ring on bottom. Restorable: once the plastic looked bad, it could be stripped and recoated.
Love to get one for my collection.
Hey guys never saw the AMF version of the Magna Pin. The Magna Pin was developed by a guy in Buffalo, New York. I collect old pins and have a pin collecting bud who knew the guy that invented the Magna Pin (not sure if the guy is still alive or not). Very interesting history behind it. They do come up in Ebay now and again...actually have seen two or three mint ones come up on there. Where was this article about the synthetic pins...would like to read it. There used to be in Edmond Oklahoma a MAG Doubles Tournament at what is now AMF Boulevard Bowl. Not sure if they still have it but that is what they bowl against. We used to have about 6 lanes worth of Mags at a center I used to work in and we would bowl pot games on them. Totally different acting beast and a funny sound.

King,
We have a collection of rare pins lined up behind the front desk. If it's not to much trouble I'd like to add one to the collection.
