  • Speakers Buzzing

Have a set of speakers which with no music buzz like static at low volume. Is this due to defective filter circuit in stereo?

one thought is that it maybe something within a ground loop in the audio signal. he have rca cables running to powered speakers that the ground or the shielding in the cables is messed up in some way that we get a constant buzz through our speakers.

Used one purchased from radio shack (no longer sell these) and it works well. Plug in the outlet, plug your device into the filter.

this can happen if your speakers are cheap crap. usually its feedback from a bad connection somewhere. If you can isolate those speakers to a different soundboard or try a different port it would be a good step in finding out where to look next. Also make sure one of your "DJ"s didn't tune the system to make it sound better for lightshow bowling.
When you know what to do, everything is easy.

Or just cut the ground lug off the 110vac wall plug

            Unsafe and violates electrical code.

Here's a good article on dealing with ground loops.

Attachment plugs and receptacles may not be connected or altered in a manner which would prevent proper continuity of the grounding conductor.
