  • Ball Return motor

Last February I had a ball lift motor start giving me issues. When the lanes started up you had to hand start, reach in and pull, the upper wheel to get the motor and ball lift going. Long story short, I replaced with a QAMF motor (#250 001 161 Motor S/S Options Ball Lift). Installed and has worked with no issues until yesterday. Now this motor has to be hand started, but heres the kicker, it now will run in either direction. So, if a bowler pushes a ball back into the lift it will send it back down thru the subway. How is it possible for a motor to run in reverse if its wired correctly? Is there something inside this motor I should be looking at? A start switch, or bearing, or?

It's been an issue with some of these motors for a long time. Call QAMF for a warranty replacement.
The reason it can run in reverse is it's a reversable motor, so just the start winding tells it which way to run. Those that can be hand started and run either direction have a base level design flaw that puts the start winding magnetic fields for CW and CCW too close together.
Seen new ones fail within days out of the box.
You can try capacitors and connections on the termial board, but i suspect you can't repair it.
