  • Gearbox grind.

    I recently rebuilt a Westinghouse combo gearbox that I found in our parts cabinets. All the gears looked fine and the shims seemed fine. Now it makes a bit of a grumbling noise and runs a little warm. Should I be concerned?

    Take it off and drain it a little to see if the oil has discoloured from the gears grinding

        Did you pull the rotor out change the big sealed bearing?
