  • Continuos Table

82-70 with MP Chassis. I have a Westinghouse table motor that continues to run. While standing there I can hear the Klixon click but the motor continues to run. I can reset the Klixon while it is running. The motor gets real hot and keeps running untill I unplug the motor. I was called to the machine for a continuous table. If I zero the chassis it still runs. What would allow this to happen?

if your klixon is clicking out and the motor is still running id surmise you have some internal arcing/ wirecrossed inside the motor. the klixon is supposed to shut it down before it gets too hot to damage itself.
i've never seen it happen on my nationals but I suppose you could have you cent mech broken in the "run" position?

somebody mentioned the stator's run windings can get stuck in this thread here:
When you know what to do, everything is easy.

Does replacing the stator cure this issue? It could very well be what Grit has said, one of the windings has let loose shorting the motor. It finally went in the trash.

Motor must have shorted out. That motor has been on the machine for about 5 years.

Someone has probably wired around the klixon "Darn motor kept turning off until I fixed it".
If the Klixon was in the circuit, the motor wouldn't run when kicked out. Personally, I haven't seen an internal Kilxon short out and still kick out. But I have seen a broken plastic Klixon housing cause anything.

Did you try another chassis ? It sounds like the table contractor is calling for the table to run, Check to see if the contacts are shorted close on the top set of points.

                MP Chassis Tester

                Good morning,
I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
