  • 82-70 Suspended Pins

I have a problem on a machine that when it picks up the pins after first ball ,,the sweep comes back to guard but the table will not set the pins ( Hanging Pins),
I have checked all the cam settings, changed the sweep motor & g/box, and also tried another chassis , but the problem still remains,
    What am I missing ???

If the table goes up and stops ( offspot sw.) if it goes back down but does'nt release the pins either a bad cell or the respot rod out of adj.

      Hi rivmic,
Have checked the offspot switch tested with a meter , have checked the clearance but the problem still remains and the machine stays in 2nd cycle.

when the table goes up does the sweep sweep the deck and then stops at second guard or does it stay at first guard and not sweep off the deck?

Does it spot a full rack of pins on second ball & strike without problem? Sounds like you might have a bad microswitch on one of your cams (SB comes to mind and it should close when the sweep passes 186 degrees), however I would just replace them all. I say that because when I use the motor switches on the control panel of the machine, some machines won't make the second revolution of the table if the sweep hasn't swept the deck and others will. When i had solid state chassis, i had a mix of different types of boards across the house so I couldn't tell you which one in particular would do it.

Also if you would check the cable as it comes out of the wiring hole that it has not wore a hole in itself as the table lowers and grounds out causing a false offspot.

Just thinking, (that's always scary) If you have'nt got it, pull out the ist table cam and run it down and up a few times and make sure it's releasing the pins. If it does some short in the offspot curcuit.

Here's what I have done so far
                      1 changed sweep m/box
                      2 tried different Chassis
                      3 replaced OS micro switch
4 Renewed wiring to OS switch
5 changed sweep and table wiring and micro switches

when TS1 is activated by hand table picks up and resets pins BUt the original problem is still giving me grief

Was thinking ,could the problem be in the C2a plug

Just curious, are you running respot cell wires? It doesn't make sense but it almost sounds like the machine isn't detecting pins in the scissors after feeling for them/picking them up and waiting for the bin switch to activate to spot a full set but I presume there would be a pin in the 9 spot in bin and you said it stays in second ball so like I said it doesn't make sense.

It will be interesting to see what has caused this one!

If it sweeps the deck it is not an offspot issue. Sweep would stay @ 1st guard. I would be looking at the cam switches. Like AMFBrian said, SB is a good place to start

Not running respot cell wires, but the wire are still in place from the board to the C2a plug,
I had it working for awhile but it kept double loading the pins and giving me deck jambs.
I have changed all cam switches and reset to right tolerances

                              New Senario,
If I wipe away standing pins for 1st ball the table moves down ,spotting cells close table goes back up and and waits for pins ,9 pin drops in and table sets pin.
By being on manual the table should feel for pins, go up,the sweep should go thru and clear the deck come back to guard and the table then goes thru the reset motion ( this is what happens on all the other machines ) so it seems the problem is the machine is not detecting standing pins and thinks it a strike.
If so how do I solve this one .

many Thanks for all the help so far
