  • Westie B/E gearbox

I am currently rebuilding a Westinghouse B/E gearbox and I can't seem to remove the snap ring (919-000-700) so I can get the worm gear out. Anyone have any advice on how to remove it?

The snap ring is actually holding the bearing in there, after you remove the 3/8"nut from the end you drive out the worm with the rotor on it. A crappy bowling pin head will do,put the head on the threads and whack the pin butt with another pin and it will eventually nudge it's way out.

I use the hammer with one side plastic and the other rubber. (plastic end and pound out) the snap ring inside is a pain!

if you go to the qubicaamf customer portal, you can download the Westinghouse manual.
