You talkin about the Klixon on the stator? If I remember right the Klixon hooks to 3 and X on both BE and FE with the only difference being that the BE Klixon is rated at 18 and the FE is rated at 20. That's for the Westinghouse stators. I don't have the PN at the moment.

I believe he is looking for the Lewus switch 610-309-042. Instructions are included in the bag.

Lewus switch is a solid state start switch for be motors (not recommended for the combos). It also is adjustable for how long you want the start windings running before they get cut out of the circuit.

Actually it is designed for the National combo motors I believe. I use them with great success. Never have tried one on a GE or Westinghouse though.

I've always seen it listed in the catalog as not recommended for combos. I use potential relays for my combos and have never put anything other than centrifugal on the BE motors. Not by preference, just never have.

Thanks for the flick Pie. Had one of these on a BE up at Columbia. Where I'm at now we are SLOWLY converting over to the QAMF SS for the BE's and they seem to be doing a great job. I tried one of the QAMF SS for the combos and am not sold on them guys; However, the one combo stator I converted is a great troubleshooting tool. I've read some where you fellows talk about the potentials for the FE's, and am interested in learning more.

                          Thanks Jim

The center I'm at now has been my first exposure to potential relays. Whether they are the original centrifugal switch, solid state, or potential relay they all serve the same purpose. Removing the start winding from the motor circuit once the motor has started. So far I like the convenience of the potential relay. 3 terminals and they sit right in the front wire way. Sweep relay next to the Russell Stowe plug and table relay at the end next to the capacitors. No matter what relay you have you always use the same 3 terminals. Between 5 and 2 is the coil that gets energized as the motor starts. Between 1 and 2 is a normally closed switch that gets put inline with the start windings. As the motor creates current from rotating the coil gets energized and opens the switch pulling the start windings out of the circuit.

We ran the Lewus switches on our Nationals both combo and back ends with great success. I know a lot of guys don't seem to like them but they always worked well for us. I think I had 4 go bad in my 11 years with 64 lanes worth
