  • ball lift belts

Has anyone ever been able to get a deep grove ball lift belt to work on a narrow grove pulley? I found a good deep grove belt in a dark corner of my center and I don't want to chuck it if I don't have to.

A deep groove belt can be used with a shallow groove pulley but two things will probably happen. 1) The flat part of the belt can not ride on the flat part of the pulley which can make adjustments difficult and performance unpredictable. 2) The belt can separate on either side of the v part of the belt.

yes you can. and most of us did til it was figured out there were actually two different sized pulley grooves floating out there. yes it may fail earlier. but you'll still get Years out of it. Depending on abuse and buisness, may outlast your Properly fitted belts.

You may also notice belt dust accumulating on the ball lift as well, but if it's a good quality belt it won't separate and should last for years.

I've heard this before somewhere else...If the belt is flaking off, wouldn't it shorten its life???
