capacitor smoking

have a lane that has smoked 2 capacitors in one week, both times csm2. westinghouse sweep motor. both times the sweep has stopped about the 4-5-6 pin line, and smoke came pouring out of the capacitor. sweep runs smooth, no binds. mp chassis. klixon did not trip. this is where I am leaning. do not need it tomorrow so I thought I would ask before I changed the klixon out. I think when that happens there's something shorting out. What type of contactor? I've had that happen with AB contactors and found the screw that holds the center contacts fell out, or the contacts that are held in with the spring come unseated. Have you changed chassis? Changed stator yet? What type of start switch on the motor? If OEM style switches the arm (for lack of a better term) that sits on the disk of the cent mech can break off so inspect the terminal board and the aux both. Make sure the connections are tight on the switches. Check to make sure none of the wires are touching the motor or each other and make sure no debris got in there. Inspect cent mechanism, the weights can break off. Inspect and replace any burnt/damaged pins/sockets in the c-1. If you still have probs i'd check in the wireways for nuts/bolts/anything that could cause a short.

2nd on what Lancer said especially the part about your relay, if you have AB and lost one of the springs or lil bowties it'll cook caps like nobody's business.
not sure if the MP has the 3 fuses/circuit breakers but meter them out if it does. On the SS one of those controls the caps.
