  • Sweep Stopping at 2nd Guard Table Returned to 355

Got one 8270 that periodically has the sweep stopping at 270 degrees and table returning to 355 degrees with pins on pindeck. Want to know what might cause this. Return sweep to 0 degrees and machine functions correctly untill a while later that it does the same thing again.

First thing I'd look at, if you have mechanical contactors for the sweep, look at the contacts themselves. Could be burned up enough that every once in awhile it will not make contact. Also look at the SA switch, could be going bad. If the sweep contactor is pulled in and nothing is happening check the motor switches and the centrifical one. Might have something going bad there. Also you might have a bad motor plug or socket. I usually try and wind the plug up a couple of times, to put more tension on the pins in the plug, to see if there is any change. What happens if you swap out the chassis with a known good one?

You could also verify that the sweep is not rolling backwards sometimes at 270. I had one doing this now and then also,it would stop as it was supposed to but then unclick the micro by drifting backwards and as the table returned home as it should the sweep would just sit there.

Do you have the older MP chassis with the button batteries?

I have seen that exact same thing happen.

Are you using XOP's with interface cables? We had the same problem and it went away as soon as you take off the interface cable.
