Helping out another center. Mechanic calls me saying the table motor is coasting. He has upgrade 8270. He replace the brake, accoring to him there is no capacotors. Table still coasting. I told him to swap motors with sweep, if it still does it swap gearbox. My question is why no caps. and how is the start stop circuit of the motor works. the chassis is like the 90's.

    thanks.

If you upgraded to XL or XLi, they are in the chassis.
Try stretching the table motor cable over to the sweep motor (even if you losen the cable clamp) and run the table. When the sweep stops, you'll see if the issue is in the control or the motor.

dont know how much they have cable wise. thats why i told them to swap motors first. I knew it had to have caps. He thinks its a gearbox but a told him its a better chance the motor.

I thought these had the capacitors on the motor as opposed to inside the wireway?

If it's this type it looks like they are on the motors.

TJ The original XL upgrade used Franklin motors and the caps are in the chassis and the brake is on top of the motor. Odds are he needs to move the gear box or rotate the gearing to get a fresh starting and stopping point. It actually could be the ss contact in the chassis too. I had to order those online before for a place in California.

If there are the "xl" Style front end gear boxes, swap the table and sweep gear boxes. The drag break on them is a piss poor design, that if the gears in the box are well used can't handle the weight of the table.
Change the chassis, is not the answer.

that why i told them to swap motor/ gearbox first. If it works then swap back just the motor if the problem returns then its the motor. He did say they have one chasis left, but i told them thats the last resort. If he doent have a spare then told him I rather have the coast on the table then the sweep.
