  • 70 vs 90 Distributor Question

Went from 30's to 90's here so not sure about this... Is the distributor on a 70 the same as the one a 90xl? Found some real cheap spares that came off of some 70's that I thought I would pick up if I can use them..

    Again, thanks in advance!

Buddy of mine says he will take 50 a piece for them, I would think they have to be worth that if they are decent!

The support castings alone are worth $100s. Id buy em

They are more or less mechanically identical. The only thing that would be different from a 70 to a 90, is on the 70's you'll run into old designs of certain components that are no longer made, but function the same as the newer version of the part in question. At $50 for the entire assembly, you're damn near robbing him.

On a side note, 30's to 90's...APPLES AND ORANGES!!!!!!!!!! Get used to not doing much.
Change the chassis, is not the answer.

$50 is a steal, even if they have problems. Brand new distributors are around $1,200-$1,400.
If it cant be fixed with a hammer, use a bowling pin.

              4:1 Timing off..

              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
