  • THE BLACK CAM

I recently got the chance to take a couple shots of the edge black cam. I have a shot of each side and some vids, for some reason not to good in quality, of a running dist. with one on. To watch it run, you really see no big difference between the two. there is a lot smoother 3 to 2 and it looks like when it stops along the back row, it might go out a little farther. I'll let yoy all be the judge. Will try and get them up in two or three days.

Wow the one side is so different. I see how it is smoother going to the 2 and also noticed it doesn't extend as much at the 6.

I couldnt see much of anything in that first video. The 2nd one really showed how smooth it indexes though. Sweet its black! the color they all turn anyway!

Can someone in the know say if this part will be retrofit? I believe it has been stated the pinwheel will not mount to older machines.
When you know what to do, everything is easy.

It seems like it moves back from the 2 to the 4 a lot quicker. or am I just seeing things? If thats the case id be interested in using them on my 70s

I believe the cam II is being tested right now on 70's with steel bins. I don't know if the benefits of replacement will justify the cost. The EDGE lift has been retrofitted to 70's. It is not a simple swap out however, and is expected (by me) to be quite costly. The reason I say that is because of what people were telling me when the durabin was first released. The decision to make an upgrade kit for a 70 has not yet been made (but is under consideration).

Billy, I can tell you it is being tested on 70s with the Durabin.

I would think a few small design changes to the distributor could make that possible. I havent really looked into exactly how but I know that raising the pinwheel is kind of out of the question. So maybe a way could be thought up on how to lower the disributor to allow for the drop out of the pinwheel onto a fixed pan. Set up the distributor kind of like a brunswick cross conveyor where the pin would have to be caried up a little bit. Im no engineer though so i dont know if that would even be possible. And grip with the distributor belt would be a big deal with a setup like that

I'm working on a prototype as we speak...'Cept I'm trying to make it bolt-on, without changing any other components.

I knew someone one here was going to alter this cam at some point - I did some of this myself in the 80's, but I thought I was just being ingenius!!

I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.

                              Thanks...
