  • SS Chassis Issue

Swapped board and machines - issue follows the chassis

Intermittently (could go a week without issue) no motors will run (all 3) and the ball lights on the mask go out when the issue presents itself

    One of the circuit breakers?

Wow... thats atough one. If I were you I would start swapping individual parts with other lanes until the problem moves
Giving bowlers less to complain about, one lane at a time

For it to have nothing at all when the problem arises, could it be T1 on its way out dying a slow death?
AS REQUESTED....The all new and VERY improved "super cool" Pin_Head with super hip shades.....

If its not the T1, i have had chassis's in the past that when you dont have the (elco plug? ours are a different square shape) plug that goes to the masking unit in or seated correctly it will give you different levels of machine operation, some of ours work 99% just without the mask lights, and others wont even turn on, maybe you have a loose connection/bad solder joint on this plug, unplugging/moving this connector maybe reconnecting the short for a time. Just a thought.

This is an Elco chassis - converted to a C-23

How is the plug converted? Bad mask switch connection?

Interesting. If you still had the green ELCO plug I would suspect that or the connection at the motherboard but the C23 plug is more secure in its connection, unless, like the C plugs, there is a bad pin or wire in the plug. I think the clue here is how it behaves the moment this happens, SS chassis right? If it is running then all of a sudden all of this stuff just goes dead then I would be looking at the breakers/fuses, T1, etc. If it is running then all of a sudden (maybe even stops mid cycle) the pit light goes off, and it behaves like it would when it was turned off, in other words the BE runs with the ball lights on until the time delay expires, then it doesn't come back on (at this point all 3 motors would be off and no ball lights lit), then I would suspect the machine is losing the mask switch connection somewhere (or in the chassis) and if I thought it was the chassis I would start at the ELCO/C23 plug, the entire time I assume that any motor can manually be run by engaging its relay?

Acted as if the CB1 was bad - traced the wires - one went to the M2 relay - changed it and marked the old one - it ran all day so far

Its been a few days.... Sure you would have said something back buy now if you were still having problems.... But just wanted to add something.... Threw the wires i have looked at the M2 gets its main power from the M1.... And that comes frim the T1.... If the T1 starts to malfunction it would normally blow the F1 or CB1 depending on your chassie set up... If you have not blow a fuse or A mini CB then take the M1 and swap with the lane to the left and M2 with the lane to the right and see were it goes..
do it all RIGHT, do it all the FIRST TIME!!

So far no issues - and this chassis did this on more than one machine with more than one Omega Tek board

                        Hopefully fixed

I am leaning towards a bad relay

                            MP Chassis Tester

                            Good morning,
I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

                            *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

                            Turret clutch rebuild

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.

                            Thanks...

Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
