  • Throwing my Pins

Hey guys and gals, I am a new bowling center owner (new to owning one, the center is extremely old)...My pinspotters are throwing the pins when they go to set them, I have 82/70's...It looks like it is the whole center bunch of pins...Is there a simple fix to this issue?

    Thanks,
    Cameron

Hard to understand what "throwing the pins" means? Is the table dumping the new set of pins on the pin deck in 1st ball and are they all falling over? If so.......check to make sure all the finger cell linkages are connected. If the machine is dumping pins in 2nd ball......you probably have a wire off on one of the finger cells. Good luck!

So it is in the first ball...and that could be the problem, just before this issue started up, I had 2 pins in 1 cup somehow...thanks, will get back with an update...oh yeah, they are basically dumping them

Check all the cup widths......you may have a tight cup or two. Does this problem occur every time or occasionally??

Cups (gap and condition, make sure the gap is right and there's no cracks in the cups) and table height (5/16" from the deck all around at the lowest point) should be checked. Also how old are the pins? Old, really beat up pins will cause spotting problems also
All I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

Have a birthday party that showed up so I havent had time to check back on the table...the pins are not that old, but they have been getting pretty dirty (mechanic said the best way to work out the kinks is to keep running them) It happens everytime on the first ball, well just recently after the double pin in one cup...how big of a gap should the cups have?

Also check your sweep is travelling far enough back roughly half way over the 7-10 pin spots, otherwise issue may be actually trying to spot on another pin either standing or as dead wood, ALSO reading your post, make sure your pin jammed in table hasn't bent or broken something, big possibility as you said just before this started you had 2 pins in 1 cup.... check your tie rod (lightning rod) and the pins that secure it to the yoke shafts, as statedt check for broken or incorrect gapped cups. and make sure you post back any other questions we are ALL here to help mate....

              GOOD LUCK...

Change all 20 bowling pins with different pins. Does the problem go away? If it does....You have one or more bad pins. If not do everything else listed above.

alright guys, so i went back and under the table...bare with me because i dont know all the lingo...so here is what i found (all sorts of screwed)...the #4 pin cup head is completely missing...laying underneath with my head towards the front (terminals/bowlers) the arm that controls the fingers was popped off at the bolt towards the back of the machine (nut is not holding it in place) so the whole left side 1,2,4,5,7 fingers where rubbing on the bar...so i put that back in place and these little screws things that connect to the arm and fingers and i guess move them where popped off 5,6,8 fingers so i reattached them...everything back connected i lowered the table and pushed/pulled on the cups to simulate the pins being put down...what i found was the pins as they came down where hitting the front fingers on pins 1,2,4,5,6,7,8 (put pins in the cups as i pushed and pulled)...when the fingers would close they wouldn't be in the center, they would be more towards the back...it looked as if the back finger would move first, then the front...but by that time the pin would be sitting on the finger...then as the table came back up the cup would trap the pin...and i believe that is how i had 2 pins in 1 cup...any ideas?

Do you have a service manual with you? if so I'd suggest doing both complete table and respot cell adjustments, step by step as per the book... I wouldn't mind betting once both of those are done it will run smoothly again...

I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
