  • BALL IDLE ON CUSHION

I would like to know peoples views on causes for balls to sit on the cushion ball exit side. Facing type / material, cushion position, shock, carpet, bounceplate, balls???

    thanks in advance.

Cracked bounce plates, cracked pit support brackets, cracked dampners and badly-frayed carpet ends will all cause idling.

Also check your cushion weldment and plank for any fractures

We replaced all the pins with x-washers for the shock with bolts... After replacing any brackets with wallowed out holes... That helped out the most...
do it all RIGHT, do it all the FIRST TIME!!

In older machines, the bounce plate can wear and develop a groove in the plate, which can trap and hold the ball at the rear of the cushion assembly.

Also a collapsed pit angle bracket can cause a ball to idle on the cushion.

Yes! I will add in addition to the sticky rivets, a worn cushion facing exposing the hard/sometimes sticky rubber under it, an old or worn out carpet that does not pull pins away from the ball door trapping balls, and a paddle that does not clear pins properly trapping a ball against the cushion.

              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
