  • King tip of the day - pit from %$*(@&$#^@)(@$#

Had a carpet get chewed up today

    It disintegrated

Had to fix before full house tomorrow night

    Tackled it tonight after league

Broken bolt in the carpet drive sheave

King tip - use anti seize every time you have a chance on these bolts and many others

Wow. Looks like you spent a lot of time drilling it out huh? I have found more than one stuck on the roller shaft enough to need heat to get the drive sheave off before, but I can't say I have encountered that before. Sould we use anything on the roller shaft?

I use anti seize on the roller shaft and inside the sheave

This was one of the first pits I did when I came back to the palace in 2008....

I use a lot of anti seize - just wish I had used some here

Replace the "square head" bolts with grade 8 or higher bolts.

I HATE when this happens. I've only had it happen twice, one time I had to cut off the roller shaft, the other I was able to drill out the bolt but then the pulley would not come off. No problem, at that point put a 3/4" (?) open end wrench on the shaft if there is enough of it showing, (with the carpet drive belt still on), then turn the roller in the normal direction until the wrench is firmly on the floor and the shaft, then just 'bump' the back end motor on and off a few times and like magic it will break free of the shaft. It's kind of violent but it works.

Absolutely... Yeah grade 8 hex head is soooo much better than those crappy square head bolts....

I'm sure there is a good reason they are specified but I just don't like them at all.

i think they are just an absolutely pointless idea... Seeing a next to no socket goes on them properly

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
