  • THE funniest rig EVER!

Ok guys.. its been about 9 years since I've been in bowling and have returned to my original center. I didn't expect it to all be like i left it. The first month back was an adventure none the less. neglect, rigging, and ignorance seemed to have ran rampant through here. here are a couple of examples

what's that in that motors drip pan you ask?
    Maxi pads!! wow

a stripped cam bolt calls for not replacing it no..
    It calls for duct tape!

And then you have threaded rod welded to the o-pan..
    Genius

    Oh my!

I see nothing funny about this.

I think the operative word there is LAZY!

No..not funny at all in the mechanical sense.. but who comes up with Maxi pads? Really?

It is probably more work to put that duct tape on than to just replace the stud... wow

Yep..took me all of 3min to fix it right... im trying to look at some of this with humor so i don't get pissed that my machines have endured this kind of treatment

And all the work that went into welding that threaded rod onto the pan (damaging pins!) could have been better spent making adjustments or replacing other bad parts to at least TRY to solve that problem, but that requires work to be done and a brain to be able to do it..... correctly.

.....I then refer to my signature....

I am totally with you there and I completely understand..... believe me.

Making fun of this and getting a bit of a laugh out of it is far better than getting stressed and pissed off about it.

And my comments are more or less directed towards the making fun part of it, because it's just so ridiculous.... isn't it?

But this thread brings up an extremely important thing, people who don't know these machines and/or are not willing to make the correct repairs have absolutely no business being in the same room with them.... ever! Besides the stupid crap that this may cause, as you see, it can also be very dangerous for them.

The maxi pads were pretty funny- they do absorb a lot so I guess that might make sense , and the duct tape was just.... sad , but that 'thing' welded onto the pan....

Please tell me there is no more.... lol

Thats not good at all you have a long road ahead of you but aleast everything will be done properly and you guys are right you gotta look at the funny side. It also makes it hard for the next machinic when they work on the machines and like tablejam said it becomes very dangerous.

Yeah jam..there's more b.e. motors plugged into the wall so they run, some rod on the dist bracket (pic attached), a security camera in place of a scoring camera, wires coming and going from machines no idea why or where yet. the list goes on and continues to grow.

the reason i posted this thread is to show what happens when you begin to not fix things right the first time. i understand a quick fix to get through a league...but fix it right afterwards! and to show we all should take pride in OUR machines!

Isn't that rod actually stahls distributor head leveler? If I didn't have old style distributor mounts I would actually have those. Leveling the mount can besuch a pain in the butt!

Idk..looks home made to me.. I've always been one to accept modifications if justified.. i checked this one for level ..it wasn't of course.so i used the rod since it was there already. Maybe im allowing too much pissed offness to make me fly off on anything.. hmm

A past Brunswick mechanic that's who! A lot of Brunswick machines develop leaks in the gearbox during the season,as do AMF's. In busy centers though the mechanic may not have the time to replace the seals and a pad in the oil pan works great because if the fills up it will drip down the front of the curtain and cause scoring issues.

Now the proper fix is to replace the seals but you are not going to change one out in 15 or 20 minutes like one of ours. But if used they should only last till a time slow enough to fix properly.
Sometimes we have to do stuff to get by....Just go back and do it right when the "by" has passed!!

I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.

Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
