  • DurabinII 8 pin block kit

    Hi guys,
I want to tell anyone out there who use DurabinII, that if they don't currently have 8 pin blocks installed, sincerely advise that you do. I am not going to say Pin_Head's tech tip as I am by far no where near good enough to be posting tech tips, but we had several issues with the 8 pin being spun around due to the pin hitting the side of the bin pocket and bouncing the pin back enough for the head to come in contact with the dizzy belt thus turning the pin around making it face sideways etc. After seeing the batwing mod at Jerry's palace I can see that these blocks work the same way, and several lanes we have installed so far that would pile up a few times a week have not piled up in nearly 2 months....

So overall my recommendation for those of you with DurabinII you should really look into this upgrade, and also the optical switch which we are also changing to...

    cheers guys...

Prevent the problems. Don't do crash repairs.

These photos show how the 8 pin block mounts, the first is how they are meant to be mounted as you get 2 blocks in a kit, but what you can get away with for the short term is what I did here by mounting only the block on the 9 pin side of the 8 pin. This way I get 20 lanes out of 10 kits, and I will fit the rest once the whole house is done, as the biggest issue is pins spinning around on the 9 pin side being turned around by the dizzy belt after the 8 pin bounces out and contacts the belt, and IF a pin was to turn a little towards the 7 pin it doesnt really affect it in any way....

What would be really nice for us guys still stuck with stringers would be being able to insert durabin like "pockets" into the existing stringer design. The current design has so many flaws its not funny, durabin solves this. But stringers won't be disappearing for quite some time.. Would be nice to have a few revised upgrades or as said, able to drop in a durabin like pocket between the stringers.

Hmm, interesting idea. Is it feasable and cost effective to both AMF and the end user?

                  *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....
