  • Interlock on 2nd ball as sweep clears the deck

    Hey guys

i've got a machine that will interlock intermittently on 2nd ball. The sweep drops to 1st guard and as it begins traveling to clear the deck the table will spot the pins if it has a full set ready to go. I've swapped the chassis and board out for another lanes, checked the wiring on the c1 machine side, checked for loose hardware under the terminal boards in the front trunking and any loose connections, no creep in either motor, all caps are less than 6months old and aren't loose or burnt or anything, the other tech had a quick look at the cam switches but it was busy so we couldn't spend too long looking.

i'm going to switch all the switches for new ones now to see if it is that but I figured I'd post anyway incase it isn't .

    thanks in advance

Well I was going to suggest the cams and switches.. maybe a loose stud or a switch out of adjustment.

TA1: Determines the home position of the table.

TA1 out of adjustment too far in:

        1. Table stops before zero position.

TA1 out of adjustment too far out:

        1. Table runs continuously.

TA2: Initiates the sweep run from home or guard position.

TA2 out of adjustment too far in:

        1. 1st ball-sweep down to guard position, table continues to run.

TA2 out of adjustment too far out:

        1. 1st ball-sweep down to guard position, time delay, sweep runs, clears pins and stops at guard. Table does not come down.

TB: Lets chassis know that table is within range of being hit by sweep

        TB out of adjustment:

        1. First ball, sweep starts towards pit, table starts up with pins in gripper, both stop, neither will run with SA1 or TA1.

Sweep switches from left to right are:

SAetermines the 2nd guard and home position of the sweep.

        SA out of adjustment:

        1. Sweep runs up, down and starts to clear deck a second time as the table spots pins. Table and sweep stop because of interlock.

SA out of adjustment too far out:

        1. Continuous sweep run.

SBetermines the 1st guard position of the sweep and initiates table spotting.

SB out of adjustment too far in:

        1. After cycle starts, sweep runs continuously.

        2. 1st ball - after time delay the table comes down, sweep starts and stops under the table as it comes down to respot pins, table stops.

SC: Lets the chassis know the sweep is in range of being hit by the table.

SC out of adjustment too far out:

        1. 1st ball - sweep down, table down about halfway and stops. Table will not move by lifting TA or SA

Debris or loose screw in the front wireway can cause weird problems like this

Ok so 2nd ball sweep to guard, time delay, after delay as sweep starts table begins to spot-

On second ball the only thing that should initiate the table spotting (with a 9 present in the bin) is the sweep SB cam at approx. 186 degrees, or when the low dwell of the SB cam comes around and allows the lever to push in the switch button. It's possible there is an adjustment issue, switch, or wiring problem with SB.
