I really like the Stahls ball doors. One improvement that they could make though is to weld nuts to the hard to reach spots. Mostly so I don't have to do it myself.

Eric at Stahls reason for NOT welding nuts on ball door is the fact that once you run the bolt through the nut it is no longer a locknut. I seen a interesting idea where the mechanic had holes where the 2 bottom nuts are so he could use his fingers to start the nut and then slip a wrench in to hold it to tighten.

While it would be really nice to have a welded nut on the front bottom tab at least, I also agree with Eric, once you run a bolt through it that's it. Eventhough it's a P.I.T.A to get to that one really it's not all that bad- a long skinny wrench here really helps. In fact I had to change a broken (AMF) balldoor last night and the spare was a Tuffy balldoor, not really that bad a job. I think i got it done in about 20 minutes- p.i.t.a. screw and all.

Does anyone have a picture of these ball doors? And I guess I'm kinda confused why there is a LH and RH ball door... (lol, although I know that the original 82-30 ball lift used 2 ball doors :P)

Its actually a ball door ring and there is one for each machine..... I could snap pics on wed.

Its not an actual door like on a 30 with a vertical lift, but more of a ring and weldment that mounts to the hole in the kickback.

Since the new place I work at has 3 different welders, you bet I weld nuts on the ball doors.
If it cant be fixed with a hammer, use a bowling pin.

Weld the nuts on as soon as they come in the door. Install w/ blue thread locker.

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…

I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.

                              Thanks...
